We are so excited to announce that our Stornoway Black Pudding has just been awarded with it’s ninth Great Taste Award by the Guild of Fine Food. This year, our famous Marag Dubh was granted a prestigious 2-star Great Taste award, which means judges dubbed it above and beyond delicious!
Established in 1994, Great Taste is organised by the Guild of Fine Food and is the world’s largest, longest standing and most respected food accreditation scheme for artisan and speciality food producers. Charlie Barley’s have had a long running history of success at the awards, winning sixteen in total since 2000, nine of which have been for the ever popular Stornoway Black Pudding.
Among this year’s very positive comments from the judges were that it is “a great looking black pudding with a wonderful savoury aroma. This is classic - wonderful oatmeal, fabulous flavour and spot on with the seasoning. This is a very well made product where all the different ingredient are working in harmony and coming together to produce a divine black pudding” and “a lovely clean flavour with an excellent distribution of oatmeal. Moist and flavoursome with good pepperiness on the finish.”
