Q: How long will my (black) pudding/product keep fresh?

A: Your Charles MacLeod 'Stornoway Black Pudding' arrives as a fresh product in a 1.4kg roll. This will keep fresh, under refrigeration, for a further ten days. To deep freeze first cut into slices, rewrap, then place into your freezer. You may then remove the slices as and when required, thaw for one hour, cook and enjoy a taste from the Hebrides.

Q: What do I do if there is a problem with my order?

A: Let us know as soon as possible. Charles MacLeod has traded on its reputation for decades and therefore we strive for excellence in our customer service and customer satisfaction. In the unlikely event that a problem does arise, please call us on 01851 702445 or email customerservice@charlesMacLeod.co.uk

Q: How do I cook my Stornoway Black Pudding?

A: Fried or grilled is best. But if you are feeling adventurous, try these recipe ideas.

Q: Should I cook my Stornoway Black Pudding in its wrapper or remove it first?

A: In most instances it is recommended that the wrapping be left in place during cooking.

Q: Can I buy Stornoway Black Pudding elsewhere?

A: Yes. Charles MacLeod Ltd.'s sells online here, at John Bratch Butcher's website, and offline at our shop in Stornoway and the following outlets. Do not be fooled by outlets offering Stornoway-'style' black pudding - it's a poor imitation. Ignore the fakes; for the authentic taste and flavour buy Charley Barley's world famous Stornoway Black Pudding

Q: Where is Stornoway?

A: Stornoway is the capital of the Western Isles, or Outer Hebrides, off Scotland's rugged north west coast. Approximately 35 miles into the Atlantic off the Scottish mainland, the island archipelago of the Hebrides enjoys a first class environment free of pollution with rich pastures and hillsides providing livestock with the grazing necessary to breed top quality meat.

Q: Apart from gourmet cooks and lovers of wholesome traditional food, has black      pudding inspired others?

A: It is a little appreciated fact that black pudding has been an inspiration for a generation of the UK's best comedy acts:

The Seventies
The Goodies 'Black Pudding Bertha' catapults The
Goodies to No.19 in the charts in June 1975
[Graeme Garden, Tim Brooke-Taylor, Bill Oddie]

The Eighties
Ripping Yarns 'The Testing of Eric Olthwaite' opens with a
breakfast time debate about the merits of
  black pudding:

Eric -
Black pudding's very black today, mother...
Mum -
Yes, it's very black today, dear
Eric -
That's very black, that is... even the white bits are black
[Michael Palin and Terry Jones]
